POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direct supervision of a group of children before and after school and in seasonal day camps.
Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises a group of children.
Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
Attends staff meetings.
Adheres to association and position training requirements.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
Works various hours and locations to meet association needs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Transports children in a company vehicle to and from school and other activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age, and be a High school graduate or GED; one year or more of college preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driver record check.
Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp or school setting preferred.
Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
Must submit to and expect to pass a licensing finger print background check.
Must possess within 30 days of hire CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Child Abuse Prevention, and Food Handlers training within 30 days of hire date.
Food Handlers Card must be provided at the time of hire.
Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driver record check.
